As the 2024 GCSE Results are published nationally today, Chulmleigh College once again celebrates significant examination success.  As part of a small Trust of local schools, Chulmleigh College has always been proud of its warm, welcoming and family feel, this is characterised by 71 of the 752 pupils attending the College having parents who work in Chulmleigh Academy Trust.  The family feel is a big part of the success of the school as pupils join the Primary Schools at Nursery and remain with the Trust until the end of their GCSEs in Year 11.  The journey of families through Chulmleigh Academy Trust schools and relationships with the staff is a source of pride for everyone at the Trust.  Staff, pupils and their families form a long and strong relationship over their time together.

GCSE results placed Chulmleigh College as the highest performing comprehensive school in Devon across all measures this summer.  This is a testament to the hard work of the pupils at the school, their families and the school staff.

“We are incredibly proud of our school community and the results our Year 11 pupils achieved this summer.” shared Mr Payne, Deputy Headteacher. “a measure of our success is not only in the results at GCSE (which are excellent), but the number of our staff colleagues who choose to bring their own children to Chulmleigh College for their secondary education from all corners of our wider area.  It is important to us that the education that we provide is to the standard that we would expect for our own children – and having 71 children with us who have parents who work in our schools is a huge endorsement of this – along with our examination results, which are well above the national average year on year.  It tells us we are getting things right for the children in our Trust of Schools.”

“In 2024 the early indications are that Chulmleigh College is the top performing school out of all comprehensive schools in Devon based on the key accountability measures of progress 8, attainment 8, ebacc average point score, ebacc entry and basics.  This is a wonderful achievement not only for those pupils but this community – the most dispersed and rural in our region.  Today we pay tribute to those pupils, their families and our staff for achieving something extraordinary.”

The results speak for themselves.
