Uniform & Equipment

  • To promote a sense of corporate unity within the College

  • To encourage self-esteem through personal appearance

  • To reduce the opportunities for individuals to be polarised

  • To preclude the wearing of clothing which might prove hazardous in certain situations during normal College activities

The uniform consists of:

  • A plain white long or short-sleeved shirt.
  • College black box-pleated skirt, knee-length or,
  • Formal, smart trousers, non-shiny, plain black with no adornments. No cord or denim. Legs essentially straight. Skin-tight trousers are not permitted.  In the summer term only, formal plain black knee-length shorts may be worn.
  • Optional: plain black "V" neck jumper purchased from the College’s supplier with embroidered badge. Plain black jumpers are not permitted.
  • Tie in House colour (These may also be purchased from the PTFA here).
  • Black or grey socks, no logos.
  • Black, opaque tights, at least 40 denier.
  • Sensible, formal, traditional leather style, smart black shoes. No high heels or platforms. Trainers are not permitted. Variations acceptable on medical advice.
  • Black school blazers purchased from the College's supplier with badge.
  • A sensible outdoor coat or jacket, essentially plain. No logos allowed.

Jewellery, make-up and hair

Only natural-looking hair colours are acceptable. We do not permit extreme length variations within hairstyles, such as undercuts, skin-fades or 'mullet' style with shaving around the ears including shaved sides that are not blended to the length on top.

If ears are pierced, one plain stud in each ear may be worn.

Nose piercings are not permitted.

Also acceptable is one small neck chain and one small plain ring. No other jewellery may normally be worn. All jewellery must be removed for physical education lessons.

Discreet make-up of neutral appearance is acceptable.

We do not permit false, acrylic or gel fingernails or any form of coloured nail varnish.

We do not permit false eyelashes.

Mobile Phones

Mobile phones must always be switched off and out of sight in school. If a mobile phone is seen or heard it will be confiscated. This rule exists for the safety and quality of education for everyone in our community.

Watches

A plain wristwatch or fitness tracker is permitted.  Smartwatches are not permitted to be worn in school and like mobile telephones should not be seen or in use on the school site.

Physical Education Uniform

  • ¼ Zip Training Top purchased from the College’s supplier with embroidered badge.
  • PE Polo shirt in house colour purchased from the College’s supplier with embroidered badge.
  • Black shorts worn as close to the knee as possible, no cycling style or tight fitting shorts permitted.
  • Black tracksuit bottoms.
  • Training shoes (not boot style) and non-marking soles exclusively for PE.
  • Studded boots (worn on wet grass).
  • Football socks (black).
  • Shin pads for football & hockey.
  • Gum shield for rugby.
  • Optional: black long-sleeved under-layer.

 

Please ensure all your items are marked with the pupil's name.

All items should be NAMED and suitable for College, and there should be no extremes. If you have a uniform problem on a particular day, you should see your Tutor or Head of Year.

All jewellery must be removed for physical education activities.

All pupils who represent the College at football have to wear shin pads in all fixtures.

All pupils who represent the College at rugby have to wear a gum shield.

It is essential that an apron is worn in practical lessons such as Art and Technology.
