Spring |
Bird Feeder / Bug House Timber Project Pupils will learn about a range of wood joints and how to create a product that will last. They learn orthographic and perspective drawing techniques and create a bird feeder or bug house. |

Summer |
Fabric Monster Toy Textile Project Pupils learn about different textiles, they complete a range of hand stitched samples and learn a range of different ways to decorate textiles. They use this knowledge to design and make a textile monster toy. |

Micro House
Pupils learn to use Techsoft 2D CAD programme to create a micro house based upon a real life situation (Design brief). They translate their ideas and develop skills in modelling and the use of multi materials to create an architectural model of a micro house including internal walls and furniture to scale. |

Spring |
Eco Lamp Timber & Polymers & Electronics Project Pupils develop their understanding of hand tools further. They use their theory work and initial designs to make an eco-friendly lamp that meets the design brief. Focus will be drawn to Timber, Polymers and Electronics and how each can be used in design. |

Summer |
Metal Trophy Metal & Recycled Material Project Pupils design and make a product with a focus on Metals. Pupils learn about the properties of metals, how to cut, shape and drill metal to create a trophy. They have access to a range of multi materials to create accessories for their trophies, showing an understanding of the properties of each material and the correct H&S when using machinery independently. |

Memphis Inspired Clock Pupils research designers and create a clock based upon the Memphis Design movement. They demonstrate safe use of equipment to independently design and make a clock based upon their design ideas. |

Mechanical CAM Toy Pupils learn about CAMS’s and how products use CAM mechanisms to work. They create a mechanical CAM toy linked to their design ideas and demonstrating their understanding of how a CAM can create a flow or movement. |

Sweet Dispenser
Pupils demonstrate their understanding of different types of timber and their properties. They demonstrate accuracy with measuring and drilling to make a product that can efficiently dispense sweets. They get the opportunity to see how the laser cutter can produce parts of the product more accurately and with speed. |
