Fish Heroes School Programme

Year 10 Food and Nutrition pupils have been given the opportunity to prepare and cook a range of dishes using Alaskan Salmon provided through the Fish Heroes School Programme. The pupils created three different flavoured Salmon bites served with homemade Garlic Mayonnaise for the school community to taste.

The initiative is part of the Fish in Schools Hero programme, which is run by the Food Teachers Centre. The programme aims to ensure that every child gets a chance to prepare, cook and eat fish before they leave school. The pupils were able to link their cooking skills with the theory they are currently learning. They made Salmon bites in three different flavours: Garlic and Herb, Mexican and Thai. The school community loved tasting the dishes, gave the pupils great feedback and even took away the recipes to cook at home.
