The Annual Schools Exhibition, The Burton Gallery
Hanging from the walls and standing on plinths at The Burton Gallery in Bideford are hundreds of pieces of beautiful art works from all around our county, including work submitted from primary and secondary schools from Key Stages 1, 2, 3, GCSE and A Level work.
Our pupils here at Chulmleigh College have a range of work in this exhibition that really stands out: Year 8s patchwork insects crawl across the wall, bright blue ink drawings from Year 10 feel calming to look at due to their colour, but so exciting to get up close to see the vibrant mark making on the surface of these drawings. Year 7's kaleidoscopic prints made from pencil drawings are uplifting as they swirl across the wall to greet the more traditional watercolour paintings made by the current Year 8s, combining natural forms with pattern, symmetry, reflection and rotation. Around the corner, the Year 9 clocks, made in Design Technology, really stand out above the crowd due to their bright colours and excellent crafts(wo)manship - when the gallery received the artwork these clocks were met with a huge 'Wow' by the gallery staff there!
